it’s really fucking patriarchal.
reminded of that today by my production teacher: “here, we don’t care what the plumbing is. what color you are, what gender you are, whatever. if you can do the job, and do it well, you’ve got it. but out in the real world, don’t be shocked to find out it’s nothing like that.”
walking around downtown with jade after integrated studies means i don’t have my headphones on, which means i can hear the things the creepers/hobos say. like, “that’s a nice get up you got on, you’d look better out of it” or something. which happened today. almost that exact line. i don’t get little-girl heart attacks anymore like i did in september/october, and it doesn’t even trigger an annoyed physical reaction. i just hate knowing that, no matter how many girls i’m with, men will treat me like an object - but if i’m with ONE guy, no matter what time of night, not a peep is heard.
fuck this shit.
